Crochet Doll Dress - Free Pattern

Updated: Apr 24, 2025

The whole design consists of a bunch of double crochet stitches. I measured the top and hip parts of the doll and added chains accordingly. Then, I continued with double crochet stitches. Increased once for the skirt and then continued with 1 DC per stitch to give that frilly look. The bow is a combination of trebles and chains inside a magic ring.

BTW..My 6-year-old suggested the color combination and the design. It felt like working for a mini fashion designer ;)

🧶 Materials Needed:

  • Yarn in two colors (e.g., purple and pink)

  • Crochet hook suitable for your yarn (commonly 2.5 mm or 3 mm)

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  7. Round 5 onwards: Ch 2, dc in each st around. Repeat until you reach your desired skirt length.

  8. Fasten off and weave in ends.

🎀 Easy Crochet Bow Pattern (Magic Ring)

  1. Make a magic ring.

  2. Into the ring:

    • Ch 3 (counts as tr), 5 tr, ch 3, sl st into the ring (first half of the bow)

  3. Repeat the same:

    • Ch 3, 5 tr, ch 3, sl st into the ring (second half)

  4. Pull the ring tight to form the bow.

  5. Leave a long tail, wrap it tightly around the center 4–5 times.

  6. Tie and weave in ends or sew directly onto the top of the dress.

đź”— Optional Crochet Drawstring (For a Snug Fit)

  1. Ch 50–60 (adjust length based on your doll's size).

  2. Weave this chain through the top edge of the skirt or bottom edge of the top like a drawstring.

  3. Pull and tie at the back in a bow to keep the dress secure.

đź’ˇ This drawstring acts like a pajama rope and helps the dress fit snugly without needing Velcro or buttons!

đź’• Final Tips:

  • This pattern is flexible – just measure your doll as you go.

  • Mix and match colors for a unique look.

  • This is a great stash-busting project for leftover yarn!waists!
